Acreage & Ride On Mowing Services in Melbourne
Mowing a big block is a different game altogether. A push mower won’t cut it, literally. Paddocks, large yards and semi-rural properties can take hours to get through, and if you leave it too long between cuts, the grass gets thick enough to bog down anything you throw at it. It’s the kind of job that eats your whole weekend and still doesn’t look quite right.
At Northern Lawn Mowers, we mow acreage and large properties across Greenvale, Kalkallo, Craigieburn and the surrounding northern suburbs. We bring the ride-on and the right gear to knock over big areas fast and leave them looking even. Whether you’re on half an acre or a good few hectares, we’ll keep the grass down, the fire load low over summer, and the place looking cared for instead of run wild.

Homes, Acreage and Rural Properties
For homeowners on larger blocks, ride-on mowing takes a job that would swallow your whole weekend off your hands. For rural properties, lifestyle blocks and semi-commercial land, keeping the grass down isn’t just about looks. It cuts your summer fire risk, keeps snakes and pests from setting up, and stops the place looking abandoned. We handle regular seasonal cuts and one-off knockdowns of paddocks that have gotten away from you.

Getting started is simple. Call us on +61 430 950 017, message us on WhatsApp, or fill in the quote form and we’ll get back to you. Tell us your suburb and roughly the size of the block, and we’ll give you an honest price.
How big a property can you handle?
Anything from a large suburban yard up to multi-acre blocks. If a standard mower can’t cope with it, that’s exactly what our ride-on is for. Tell us the size and we’ll sort it.
Can you mow a paddock that's badly overgrown?
Yes, long, thick grass is no problem for the ride-on. If it’s really gotten away from you, we may do it as a one-off knockdown first, then keep it in check with regular visits.
How often should acreage be mowed?
Through spring and summer, larger blocks usually need a cut every few weeks to stay on top of the growth and keep the fire load down. Over the cooler months it slows right off. We’ll work out a schedule that suits your block.
Does keeping the grass down really reduce fire risk?
It makes a real difference. Long, dry grass over a Victorian summer is a genuine hazard, and keeping it short is one of the simplest ways to reduce the fuel load around your home and sheds.
Can you get into tight or uneven ground?
Mostly, yes. Ride-ons handle a lot of terrain, though very steep, boggy or heavily obstacledground has its limits. If there are tricky sections, we’ll trim them by hand so nothing gets left long.
Do you do regular seasonal mowing for acreage?
We do, and it’s the smart way to manage a big block. A regular run through the growing season keeps the grass manageable and stops it turning into a full day’s work every time. We’ll set up a routine and just get on with it.
